Warm Spiced Caramel Apple Cider

October 04

One of my favorite treats to share with my little guy on chilly days is an “apple coffee” from a well know coffeehouse.  We have so much fun doing it, but it can also be a bit of a splurge…..especially if those tiny little fingers happen to let go of the cup and it spills everywhere.  Haha!  This morning I decided to try my hand at recipe copying, and I think I almost have it…….or at least my son thinks so.  He just thanked me for making today “the best day”!  I think we will be making a few of these this weekend to keep warm!

Warm Spiced Caramel Apple Cider

Cinnamon Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Per Drink

  • 1/4 cup cinnamon syrup, warm
  • 1 cup apple juice, warm
  • 1/4 cup whipped cream
  • 1 tablespoon caramel

Directions for simple syrup:

In a small sauce pan, combine simple syrup ingredients.  Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Remove the pan from the heat and let cool to room temperature.  Remove cinnamon sticks.  Store in refrigerator until ready to use.  Warm for a few seconds in microwave and use in coffee, tea, cider, or warm milk.

Directions for Warm Spiced Caramel Apple Cider:

In coffee mug, combine warm apple juice and simple syrup.  Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel over the top.  Garnish with ground cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.  Enjoy!
